Leadership and Technology take center stage at DX19

Trevor Rasmussen January 18th, 2019

Deluxe Exchange 2019 is just around the corner. Are you ready to kick it up a notch? Held February 4-6 in Miami, DX19 is a thought leadership summit that brings together leading FI experts and execs responsible for market growth. It’s two days of exclusive, thought-provoking content, innovative solutions to common FI pain points and dialog that will help you navigate day-to-day priorities and long-term solutions.

Based on feedback from past attendees, we’ve broken down the topics into six tracks: data-driven marketing, treasury management, digital engagement, check and fraud, technology and innovation, and leadership development. Here’s a taste of what you’ll find in the leadership and technology tracks.

Technology is impacting all aspects of banking, and there isn’t a role in the banking organization that won’t need to stay on top of the latest trends. Our team is focused on bringing in some of the top names in the industry to share the trends in bank innovation and technology, including: AI & natural language processing, open banking & APIs, and cloud computing & cybersecurity.

Some of the sessions include:

Prepare for Automation and AI With RQ, The Robotics Quotient

J. P. Gownder

Automation technologies — from AI to intelligent automation to RPA to physical robotics and beyond — are transforming business processes and operating models. But most companies don’t have the competencies needed to implement automation technologies successfully.

RQ measures the ability of individuals and organizations to learn, adapt to, collaborate with and generate business results from automated entities. The PLOT framework — People, Leadership, Organization and Trust — is key to self-assessing areas in which you should improve. As automation, AI and robotics become pervasive and critical business tools, only high RQ companies will succeed.

In this session, Vice President and Principal Analyst J. P. Gownder will talk about the power of RQ and how banks and other organizations can invest in it — thereby developing the prerequisites to success in automation and AI.

Other sessions include Practical Applications for Artificial Intelligence in Bank Marketing, and the Consumers’ Role in Payments Transformation.

As a leader in your organization, it’s important to gain knowledge that helps you to make the right decisions that impact how the business operates. As a result, you cannot overlook your own development and risk not growing as a leader. This year, Deluxe Exchange plans to have sessions on women in leadership roles, having a growth mindset and building a strong culture in your organization to help our attendees grow as leaders.

Sessions include:

Proven Strategies to Shape Your Institution’s Culture

Kevin McInturff, Deluxe

Throughout the financial services industry, there is growing awareness that culture is critical to the customer experience and marketing success. Yet despite clearly stated missions, visions and values, many banks and credit unions end up with a jumble of employee behaviors and practices that diminish productivity and limit success.

At a time when staff roles are evolving, senior talent is leaving and workforce requirements are changing, culture ends up happening whether you focus on it or not. This session will look past the obvious tactics of influencing culture through training and hiring and share the practical, everyday practices that bank and credit union leaders can utilize to actively and intentionally shape their culture.

What you’ll learn:

  • Reasons most culture change initiatives fail and how to avoid them
  • Strategies to identify and manage the drivers of culture
  • How to improve employee engagement
  • Ways to demonstrate connection between cultural behaviors and business outcomes

Communicating as an Authentic Leader: Find Your Truth, Tell Your Story

John Millen, The Reputation Group

Leaders today face the great challenge of communicating in a cluttered, distracted world, with zero attention spans. How can you engage, inspire and build trust as a leader with your most important stakeholders?

Explore how to find your truth — who you are as a person and leader — and relate to your internal and external stakeholders in a deeper, more authentic way. You’ll learn about connecting with purpose and collecting and sharing engaging stories of business and life.

Accessing the Power of Gratitude

Joel Lamoreaux, Deluxe

Studies show that positive workplaces perform better over time and drive better business outcomes. Yet it’s not always easy to create and sustain an attitude of gratitude — especially when our brains are trained to look for the negative.

In this session, learn how to choose and share positivity through simple practices and habits that help breathe gratitude into our lives, as well as those around us. These intentional actions, when taken consistently, create organizational cultures that support personal and business success.

Also, don’t miss the women’s leadership panel with Lana Slygh from TCF Bank, Heather Teskey from Deluxe, Cassandra Gordon from TD Bank and Barbara J. Smith from KeyBank.
These two days are jam-packed with the latest and greatest on everything you need to know to take you into 2019. Find out more, or better yet, register for DX19 here. We look forward to seeing you in Miami!
