In musical terms, a keynote is a single note upon which an entire scale — or key — is based. That note, sounded at the beginning of a musical piece, establishes the tone for the entire performance and repeats at the end to draw the piece to a satisfying close. An event’s keynote speakers function much the same way.
Keynote speakers can open a conference with information and inspiration that tells attendees what to expect from the event, sustain that tone throughout the function, and, at the end of the event, encapsulate the information and experience shared with attendees. By those standards, Deluxe Exchange 2018 (or DX18 as we affectionately call it) has a stellar lineup of keynote speakers ready to share insights and inspire attendees’ imaginations as the conference addresses the challenges and opportunities facing the banking industry today.
After event registration and a welcome reception on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at the Boca Raton Resort & Club in Boca Raton, Florida, we’ll get down to business at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning with an opening address from John Filby, president of Deluxe Financial Services.
Filby, who has been with Deluxe since 2012, has more than 20 years of experience leading organizations ranging in size from Fortune 500 companies to start-ups. With expertise in financial technology, he’s been instrumental in helping companies master digital transformations to spur growth. John will be sharing the importance of culture to the success of a company.
Immediately following Filby’s remarks, Steve Forbes, chairman and editor-in-chief of Forbes Media, will speak. Forbes has authored multiple books and twice ran for the Republican presidential nomination. With a circulation of more than 900,000, Forbes magazine is the nation’s leading business publication, and the Forbes website logs more than 60 million unique visitors per month. He’s an internationally respected authority in the worlds of economics, finance, and corporate leadership.
On Wednesday, we’ll start off with commentary from another thought leader in financial media, Maria Bartiromo, anchor of FOX’s Mornings with Maria, Sunday Morning Futures and Wall Street Week. While at CNBC, Bartiromo became the first reporter to broadcast live from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange and was the first female journalist to be inducted into the Cable Hall of Fame. Financial Times also named her to their list of 50 People Who Shaped the Decade in 2009.
Finally, author Daniel Pink will bring the conference to a conclusion at 1 p.m. One of the best-selling non-fiction authors of the past decade, Pink has written extensively on work, business management, and behavioral science. His 2009 talk on The Puzzle of Motivation is one of the 10 most watched TED Talks of all time.In 2015, Thinkers50 named Pink as one of the 10 most-influential management thinkers in the world.
